Mustard Vintage worked with Denim Interiors on The Neighbourhood, a new luxury student accommodation concept with a strong focus on distinctive, characterful interiors.
Our role was to design and produce a collection of bespoke furniture and interior pieces, combining reclaimed materials, handcrafted finishes and custom detailing throughout the scheme.
The collection included handcrafted steel and limed timber dining tables for the student kitchens, reclaimed timber shelving with substantial industrial brackets in a sealed rusted finish, and a one-off table tennis table constructed from an eclectic mix of reclaimed materials.
For the communal spaces, we designed and made a large bar-height table with matching stools. Each stool top was individually laser etched with custom typography created by us, with the letters coming together to spell NEIGHBOURHOOD.
A reception desk with a story
One of our favourite elements of the project was the design and production of a 3.5-metre reclaimed timber reception desk top.
We proposed creating the words THE NEIGHBOURHOOD using a collection of individual vintage letterforms selected from our own typographic archive. Once the composition was developed and approved, the design was etched directly into the reclaimed timber, creating a completely bespoke centrepiece for the reception space.
Alongside the pieces we designed and made, we also sourced a selection of original vintage furniture for the project, introducing further texture, individuality and a subtle mid-century influence to the interiors.
A project that brought together many of the things we love — reclaimed materials, vintage typography, thoughtful design and one-off pieces made with a story.
