Mancave Barbers approached Mustard Vintage to help create a distinctive interior rooted in the heritage and tradition of British barbering. Working closely with the team, we developed a series of visual concepts combining vintage furniture, reclaimed materials, bespoke design and carefully considered styling.
We explored ideas for the barber workstations, decorative displays, artwork and signage, sourcing vintage furniture and materials that Mancave used to create a collection of individual workstations throughout the shop.
For the walls and displays, we sourced original barbering equipment including cut-throat razors and vintage clippers, creating bespoke pieces presented in vintage shadow boxes. We also produced a collection of framed barber-inspired artwork, sourced vintage oak display cabinets for retail products, and transformed an old brewery crate into a completely unique magazine rack.
Our background in graphic design and love of typography also came into play, with Mustard creating artwork for Mancave’s window graphics and other visual details throughout the space.
One of our favourite pieces was a giant cut-throat razor, designed by Mustard and carved from solid reclaimed Iroko. The timber was carefully distressed before being etched with our own typography and aged further by hand, creating a striking one-off piece that became a focal point within the interior.
The finished space brought together vintage finds, reclaimed materials, graphic design and bespoke pieces to create a contemporary barbershop with a strong sense of heritage and identity.
