About us
Hi, we’re Simon and Gemma, the husband-and-wife team behind Mustard Vintage — a family-run British furniture and interiors studio, established in 2010. What started with our shared love of vintage interiors has grown into a meaningful and fulfilling lifestyle business that we’re incredibly proud of.
We love creating beautiful, individual interiors with character, while giving old and forgotten pieces a new lease of life. After more than 20 years in the industry, we’re still as passionate as ever and take pride in offering a friendly, personal service to all our customers.

We hand-source timeless, quality furniture and homeware, chosen for its design, craftsmanship, character and longevity. From vintage and mid-century to antique, industrial and rustic, we love mixing styles and creating interiors that feel individual rather than following trends.
We see potential where others might not. We trust our instincts to uncover vintage pieces with presence and possibilities, carefully selecting finds that can bring something unexpected to a space. After two decades in the business, our customers trust them too.
Why we love vintage...
Buying vintage is truly sustainable — one of the best forms of recycling there is. By restoring and reimagining quality pieces, we keep beautiful furniture and homeware in use for longer, helping to move away from today’s throwaway culture and ‘fast interiors’. We believe in choosing well, buying less and surrounding yourself with pieces that can be loved for years, perhaps even a lifetime.

Our story, how it began...
Back in 2002, we were renovating our first home together — a classic Victorian semi — and, like many first-time buyers, we were working to a tight budget.
At weekends, you’d find us rummaging through thrift and charity shops, car boot sales and, before long, local auctions and antique fairs, always on the hunt for vintage furniture and homewares at bargain prices.
As our confidence grew, so did our eye for a good piece. Simon began learning the art of furniture restoration, and before long we’d accumulated more furniture than we knew what to do with. We started selling the odd piece on eBay and, to our surprise, they sold — often for a healthy profit.
What started as a way to furnish our own home quickly became something much more. We were hooked, and our little vintage side hustle began.

Taking a gamble...
By 2008, life was busy. We were juggling two young toddlers, two careers, a house move and renovation — all alongside our increasingly demanding vintage funriture business. Something had to give, and we faced a big decision: should we take the leap and try make a living from dealing in vintage?
The answer, of course, was yes.
Simon left his graphic design job and took the plunge, focusing full-time on sourcing, restoring and selling vintage furniture on eBay. He rented a small storage unit on a farm, created a makeshift photography studio and spent his evenings developing the Mustard Vintage brand and website.
Meanwhile, Gemma was balancing work, a house renovation, and the demands of bringing up a small family, while also supporting the growing business behind the scenes with marketing, logistics, admin and bookkeeping.
We were determined to give it our best shot, but would all the hard work pay off?

Mustard Vintage is born...
In 2012, the Mustard Vintage website launched, followed by our social media channels. It wasn’t long before followers became loyal customers, and our regular emailed ‘Stock Drops’ quickly became a favourite, giving subscribers first dibs on our latest vintage finds.
As the business grew, so did the workload. It was time for Gemma to leave her marketing career and join Simon full-time too. It was a pivotal moment. Could the business support two salaries?
Through hard work and determination, customer demand continued to grow and Mustard Vintage began to thrive. Simon’s design and creative skills opened up new opportunities, with the business expanding into bespoke and project work, creating unique interiors for both residential and commercial businesses.
Today, Mustard Vintage is an established and respected British furniture, homeware and interiors studio, with sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

Our restoration process...
Preparation
We carefully assess every piece, identifying any damage, repairs or replacement parts it may need. Drawers may need new runners, handles can be missing or damaged, and joints may require repair or reinforcement. We look beyond the surface to uncover hidden defects, ensuring each piece is restored to work as it was originally intended.
Restoration
With over 20 years of experience, we know that the right restoration techniques can make all the difference. It’s a delicate process that takes patience, skill and attention to detail — one we’ve taken the time to perfect. Each piece is carefully and sensitively restored, preserving its original character and charm while giving it a new lease of life.
Finishing
Finally, we add the finishing touches — whether that’s painting, oiling or sealing, fitting new handles, hinges or catches, or simply giving the piece a final clean and polish. We make sure every piece is ready for modern living, giving it a new lease of life and a renewed sense of purpose, ready to be loved for generations to come.
