Chapter – Creative/Advertising Agency
Mustard Vintage were approached by Chapter Agency, a forward thinking creative ad agency, based in Birmingham. Their Creative Director (and now firm MV friend, Rich Newell) was looking to furnish two new meeting rooms in the Chapter studio - based in a beautiful old converted church. They needed two large boardroom tables which were not, well, excuse the pun, boring. Chapter wanted high quality, handcrafted boardroom tables that would make a design statement in each room, and be unique. So, we got to work to produce exactly that!
The project involved creating two bespoke 'Foundry' boardroom tables to suit their newly converted space - and to reflect how each room was used. The two meeting rooms had clearly defined uses - one being more relaxed for the Chapter in-house team to use, and the other being much more formal for client meetings. As a result, Mustard Vintage produced one boardroom table with a highly finished, refined and polished look, and then for the second table we used a more rustic top to show all of its historic marks, scratches etc. As we do with all our 'Foundry' table tops we used solid Iroko, reclaimed school laboratory bench tops, one of which we lightly sanded to retain its character the other was more heavily sanded to remove most of the marks and scratches. The bases were constructed from farbricated steel one of which was powder coated in white, the other in black reinforcing the different rooms. The tables were designed with removeable legs which enabled us to transport them up a very tight spiral staircase and install on site.
The end result were two stunning, timeless and truly unique tables with an emphasis on good design and built to stand the test of time, or to coin a Chapter phrase 'Sharper & Better!'
Chapter were kind enough to send us the following testimonial...
“When it came to redesigning the interior of the agency, our needs were very specific – two modern and industrial-inspired boardroom tables to feature in two separate meeting rooms: one formal for client meetings, one informal for creative catch-ups. Our search led us to the lovely folks at Mustard Vintage, a local design shop offeringvintage, industrial and bespoke hand-made furniture.
They were on hand to offer an incredibly professional and friendly service that meant absolutely everything from the design to delivery of our tables was done with meticulous detail.”
