A very unique piece reclaimed from a farm in the Cotswolds. The piece started its life as a chaffcutter - a mechanical device for cutting straw or hay into small pieces. The farm it was reclaimed from had since modified it by attaching a gorgeous solid oak top, this modification looks to have been done at least 20 years ago.
The cast iron base is a beautiful example of British heritage inscribed with 'Bentalls improved chaffcutter 913 Heybridge Maldon England' we have cleaned and waxed the cast iron base, added new coach bolts to one of the timber supports then sanded and waxed the oak top resulting in a stunning and highly individual piece with a multitude of uses such as - console table, kitchen butchers block/work surface or a retail display piece.
We have shown the piece with and without the lower storage shelf as it is optional depending on personal preference.
The piece has a lovely patina and oozes character, it would work equally well in a domestic environment or would make a great display table for retail or a cafe/restaurant.
