A beautifully designed vintage Ercol 'Baby Giraffe' trolley bookcase, model 361, believed to date from the 1960s and combining the wonderfully elegant simplicity of classic British mid-century furniture with a particularly charming and versatile design.

Part of Ercol's much-loved Windsor collection, this lovely piece is constructed from solid elm and beech, with three beautifully shaped shelves featuring softly rounded corners and gently curved edges. The wonderfully figured elm has developed a rich, mellow honey-coloured finish, with attractive variations in tone and grain which give the piece so much warmth and character.

The shelves are supported by slender, gently tapered beech uprights, creating a wonderfully light and open appearance. The lower shelf features a series of vertical spindle dividers, providing useful storage for books and magazines while adding a lovely decorative detail to the overall design.

Standing on ball castors, the bookcase can be moved easily around the home, making it an incredibly versatile little piece of furniture. Its elegant proportions and open construction make it equally suitable as a small bookcase, occasional shelving unit, drinks trolley or decorative display piece.

First appearing in Ercol's 1956 catalogue as the Model 361 Trolley Bookcase, this charming design has become affectionately known as the 'Baby Giraffe', a smaller companion to the larger Ercol Giraffe room divider.

– Excellent Restored Condition

Presented in excellent restored condition, this lovely bookcase has a beautifully mellow finish, bringing out the rich, warm colour and wonderfully attractive natural grain of the elm and beech. The timber retains some lovely variations in tone, together with just a few minor polished-in marks and gentle signs of age, all part of its authentic vintage character.

Please take a close look through all photographs, as these form an important part of the description and show the condition, finish and beautiful detailing in greater detail.

A wonderfully characterful example of classic Ercol design, this lovely little bookcase would make a fabulous addition to a living room, hallway, bedroom or home office. Both practical and decorative, its timeless design and beautiful natural timber make it particularly easy to incorporate into a wide variety of interiors.

Drawers may need new runners, handles can be missing or damaged, and joints may require repair or reinforcement. We look beyond the surface to uncover hidden defects, ensuring each piece is restored to work as it was originally intended.
