A stunning and scarcely seen Model 411 Siesta Chair designed by VB Wilkins for E-Gomme (later to become G-Plan) produced in 1956.
The armchair was designed to give uniform support from the nape of the neck to the back of the knees.
Featuring amazing angles with kicked back legs that angle upwards to smooth, ergonomic armrests that are simply sublime! The seat itself is a magnificent curved shape that sits perfectly within the frame. The three generous sections of the face of the seat are smooth segments with deep tucks between and the result is a chair that looks incredible from every angle.
Superb fully restored condition:
The framework is constructed from solid oak, the seat is constructed from a solid beech frame which we have stripped back and replaced with brand new foam.
The oak frame has been fully restored and refinished resulting in a gorgeous pale blonde colour that contrasts beautifully with the upholstery.
The upholstery has been replaced with new 'Mind The Gap' cotton/linen blend fabric by 'Linwood' with contrasting charcoal grey piping. Making the chair fully compliant to current fire safety regulations.
Total Width (across the arms):66cm
Height to seat:43cm
A very desirable piece that would make a great addition to any vintage/mid-century inspired interior
