A very unusual oak chest of drawers of colossal proportions!
The origin of the chest is unknown but it may have been produced for use for storage in an outfitters or department store due to the scale and superb construction quality.
Constructed mostly from solid oak - top, sides, drawers and handles. The handles are beautifully simplistic and tactile, suspended with lovely brass support fixings.
The drawers are offer huge amounts of storage, all with dovetail joint construction.
A superb piece of storage in its current state but could also be repurposed to add some character to a contemporary kitchen by using the drawers or handles within an island or larder.
In very good restored condition, there are some historic woodworm flight holes in a small area of the top, the piece has been treated accordingly, there are lots of polished in marks and scratches as to be expected for its age, please see photographs for more detail.
